Shubhendra Singh Thakur, a graduate in Biology who holds a specialisation in Design and Interpretation of Clinical Trials has always been a tech lover. From a background in biology and life sciences, he never kept himself shackled to the limitations of his academic knowledge and understanding. Due to his keen interest in learning and developing new innovative products, he started reading books on electronics, software, and new technologies. In the year 2015, he developed a wearable women safety device and a personal cooling device in a form of a wristband. A self-taught programmer in 2017 he built “Tellon” which was like a simplified Online College network with no boundaries. Tellon also got recognized by Facebook in its Fbstart platform.
The decision to get into the Healthcare space germinated from a personal problem that he faced when his mother got diagnosed with late-stage Chronic Kidney Disease in September 2017 and during the entire treatment course and meeting with Doctors, patients visiting Hospitals he came across the root cause of the rising number of patients and high mortality rates. ”The root cause is not the Disease but it’s the timely Diagnosis!” if only the patient could be detected at a primary stage then the entire decision-making and providing the right treatment option becomes much easier for both the Doctors and patients.
After all this in the year 2018, Shubh started working on CUROSTIX and CUROPAL APP, for early-stage detection of kidney disease through urine. Later, he built another kit for Oral cancer detection through saliva. After several iterations in the Oral Cancer detection kit in 2019, he founded “ERLYSIGN” with a core vision to make early detection of cancer easy, affordable, painless, quick, and accessible to everyone.
Shubhendra was felicitated by VIA & Lemon School of Entrepreneurship and was nominated for the 2019 Rex Karmaveer Chakra Award & Karmaveer Global Fellowship instituted by ICONGO and the United Nations for the work done in underprivileged localities and red-light area of Nagpur in order to create awareness regarding cancer and kidney disease. He has been recognized by the Indian Achievers Forum with Young Entrepreneur Award.
Presently, Shubhendra is the CEO and Founder of ERLYSIGN. A Nagpur-based Biotechnology startup developing the next generation of diagnostics solutions & medical devices for early-stage detection of multiple cancers. They aim to use saliva as a sample to build non-invasive and painless diagnostics for the masses. ERLYSIGN’s first test kit is an easy to use, painless, affordable, and faster way to assess the risk for oral cancer through a saliva sample even before a visible tumor or lesion appears in the Oral cavity, lip, tongue, or throat.
